A San Diego man wrongly accused of raping a 14-year-old girl is free, thanks to Team 10, in a case that is now shedding light on what could be some problems with the local court system you help pay for.
Much of the case against ____ ____ was not as it seemed and it soon became clear that the victim, who was actually a woman in her 20s with three children (who she does not have custody of), had not been forthcoming with the truth. Full Article
I was falsely convicted in 1989 by an overzealous prosecutor and a public defender in the San Diego Court System. After the trial my lawyer told me to file an appeal due to his incompetence. The Judge in the case had no idea what to do. He stated “There is so much ambiguity about this whole story I will not sentence this man to jail” A lot of good that did. I refused to comply with probation and was violated 4 times in the first 2 months. I was so pissed at being convicted when I was innocent I went full on blown mayhem status. I was arrested for armed robbery and auto theft both of which I was guilty as heck, No charges filed. A week later I was arrested for Burglary and grand larceny, once again guilty as heck, no charges filed. I always went back to the same judge and dared him to put me in jail. He knew I was innocent for the first crime I’m sure. Finally he told me to leave town because he could not take it any more. Deep down inside I wanted to continue my crime spree until I forced them to convict me of something I did do. Common sense took hold and I moved out of state. I came back 6 years later and was arrested for absconding. Finally another Judge sent me to prison for the violation. I did 32 months and was released on parole with all of my suspended sentence gone. I did 4 years on parole clean. Now I am married and have 3 boys. What a nightmare. And I still am forced to register for bs I never did. Thank you San Diego County Public Defender. Job Well Done.
